Mother Opossum
Caring for their young for 3-4 months, the Virginia opossum is one nature’s more dedicated mothers never leaving their sides. Each litter contains on average 6-8 babies, bumble bee sized at birth. The babies shelter in her pouch for the first 2 months and ride along on her back for the last 2 months. She will mother 2-3 litters each breeding season, February - September.
